Antigone

Translation by Anne Carson
Directed by Kristin Horton
Jerry H. Labowitz Theater for the Performing Arts
Nov 4-13, 2016

When her dead brother is decreed an enemy of the state, his body left unburied beyond the city walls, Antigone refuses to accept this most severe of punishments. Defying her uncle who governs, she dares to say, “No.” Forging ahead with a funeral alone, she places personal allegiance before politics, a tenacious act that will trigger a cycle of destruction. The production features NYU Gallatin undergraduate and graduate students as well as recent alums: Salomé Egas, Benjamin Natan, Myka Cue, Daniel McElroy, Grace Chan, Brennan O’Rourke, Samantha Baugh, Andrew Goehring, and Spencer Mullen.
