“Listen to Me” is a theatrical collaboration between NYU Gallatin students and immigrant teenage students from the International High School at LaGuardia Community College. This piece was conceived from the need of heightening awareness on current socio-political issues that immigrant and international students deal with while at the same time, trying to figure out the intersection between their new and old cultural backgrounds and identities. Through music, dance and storytelling, the ensemble aim to break through personal and societal constructs of racism, segregationism and otherness in order to achieve self-awareness of their complex, unique and beautiful identities.
