In the late 1840's approximately 200 United States soldiers defected from the American army to fight for Mexico in the Mexican American War. These mostly Irish soldiers came to be known as Los San Patricios (the St. Patrick's Battalion) and are revered in Mexico and Ireland as folk heroes, but considered traitors to Americans of the same generation. Their little-known story played a critical role in the military conflict that shaped a continent. Utilizing era appropriate musical styles and a variety of theatrical techniques, Radical Evolution is excited to continue to develop this project that uses this forgotten history to explore the themes of immigration, citizenship, and what happens when people follow their conscience to actively disrupt political systems.
